AAD Social Media Resources and Opportunities for Dermatologists

Description

Lauren Fassel, the AAD’s Manager of Social Media, describes the Academy’s broad social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube, where it shares evidence-based skin, hair, and nail care tips, disease information, how-to videos, media coverage, and reasons to see a board-certified dermatologist. She encourages members to follow, share, and adapt AAD content for inspiration, noting that much of it comes from aad.org. She highlights the AAD’s social media toolkit on the member website, which offers best practices, content ideas, and guidance for handling negative comments. Fassel also outlines ways dermatologists can get more involved: the Dermatologist Insider Network, which provides newsletters, ready-to-use resources, content-sharing opportunities, and networking/filming access; the Social Media Ambassador team, for AAD fellows with at least 3,000 followers on Instagram or TikTok and an individual account; and the Social Media Correspondents, who help create authentic short-form educational videos. She closes by promoting campaign T-shirts for attendees who follow @aadskin1 and acknowledging the AAD social media team, including a recent JAD LinkedIn launch for scholarly content.
